A drawbridge of thick, heavy wood leads across a broad moat which has
been dug around the city walls.  The still waters of the moat are green with
algae and moat scum, and you have no doubt that it is very, very deep.
There is something creepy about that water that compells you to stay away
from the sides of the bridge.  The east portcullis of the city of Midgaard
is just across the bridge to the west, between a pair of towers which are
connected by a stone archway.  The beginning of the main road is to the
east.
