Kirby's guide to being a noob Ok, so you're a noob? Thats ok we were all noobs at one point, and we didnt even have this awesome guide to help us out. First off, we need a good mud client if we ever wanna become pro...I reccomend MUSHClient, its alias speedwalks are superb and I will even send you my alias file if you use MUSHclient. Next up, you're gonna need a decent prompt, that ugly thing noobs start with can hardly be considered a prompt, I use this, prompt; #R<#G%h#B/#W%H#whp#R> <#G%m#B/#W%M#wma#R> <#y%n#Pexp#R> <#G%g#Pgold#R> <#C%a#R> #n%v Its pretty, and has all the neccesary info. Also, turn bprompt on, its very useful in groups. Now that we got this awesome prompt, we're gonna need some good eq if we plan on owning mobs. This is the hr/dr eq section, a * indicates a magic flag, and that Barbarians cannot wear it until level 25, also means it cant be enchanted! Some eq only adds strength, strength will raise your damroll but can max out and make str gear uneffective so I made note on the items that are ONLY strength gear. Ok, lets do this; For hr/dr chars. Slot ITEM LEVEL AREA MOB Light: Sceptre of the goatskull, level 17-20, mg museam, corpse Head: Helmet of might, level 1, advanced mud school(northwest corner of mudschool arena), loads in chest Head: Turtle shell, level 20ish, swamp of jethueslam, colorful turtle Neck: Animal collar, level 1, zoo, Puppy Neck: *Spiked collar, level 20ish, high tower of sorcery, calico cat(transable)(pick up onyx bracelets while there) Earrings: Diamond earrings, level 8, probably in castle, Kirby (just send me a tell if im there) you cant pop these noob Body: Exoskeleton, level 1-3, southern road(2s4w from entrance to bee's), Dragonfly Torso: Bloody jerkin, level 10ish, southern road(south all west from dragonfly), loads in dead body Back: Assasins quiver, level 14-16, solace museam(sw corner of solace), loads in a chest on western side Arms: Strongmans bracers, level 1, circus, loads in a chest in Ivans trailor(needs a key from ivan, and a ticket)(+1 str) Arms: *Hercules armplates, level 20ish, Galaxy, Hercules(transable)(item is anti-evil) Arms: *Red dragon armguards, level 25ish, sewer, Red dragon(item is anti-good) Hands: *Horns of Capricorn, level 20ish, Galaxy, Capricorn(transable)(item is anti-evil) Hands: *Red dragon claws, level 25ish, sewer, Red dragon(item is anti-good) Wrist: Bright silver bracers, level 1, crystalmir lake(nw corner), loads in fire pit(item is anti-good) Wrist: *Onyx bracelets, level 20ish, High tower of sorcory, black robed apprentice(at the very top of tower) Ring: Loop of melted glass, level 1, rampaged remnants, load in tree behind burnt building(+1 str) Ring: *Opal ring, level 8, troll den, load in a bed Belt: Black girdle, level 10, haunted house, ghostly mistress Weapon: Heh, find your own weapon noob, not gonna even bother cause you would just lose it anyway Shield: Rusty shield, 15ish, spurlocks farm, behind the shed Held: Shard of blue glass, level 1, Arakocran city, vender sells(+2 str) Legs: Rugged trousers, level 10ish, Bartlebys crusty barnacle, ghost Pirates Feet: *Steel combat boots, level 15ish, Solace museam, load in chest on west side of museam Ok, I guess thats good enough...with this gear you should be on your way to baller status, and the idol of all the other little noobs. Ok, dont worry caster noobs im getting to you too! Casters have it rough, especially at r0, and even r1 if you're a caster/caster combo. You may need help for some of these items so in this section a * means that you most likely will have trouble getting the item if you're below level 20. Inteligence raises each casting modifier, but can max out making inteligence gear uneffective, so I have made note of gear that is ONLY inteligence. Ok, lets do this; SLOT ITEM LEVEL AREA MOB Light: Jar of slugs, level 1, mirror realms, loads in the swamp on the east side Head: Wizards peaked cap, level 6ish, mirror realms, standard issue wizard * Neck: Silver choker, level 1, elk rapids, esmerelda(+1 int) Neck: Pendant of heresy, level 23-26, mg museam, Book Earring: Golden ring of Moon-yu, level 10ish, temple of the great bovine, Moon-yu* Body: Seaweed tunic, level 15ish, sea elf grottos, sea elf guard Torso: Black silk robe, level 4ish, new thalos, fanatic priest/mimic Back: Black leather backpack, level 1ish, Journey too far, inside a well Arms: Markings of medellia, level 8ish, Medellia's forest, Laerra Arms: Blue velvet, level 20ish, Masque of the red death, north east corner of ballroom* (50k to enter, and harpo is tough) Hands: Ornately designed gauntlets, level 20ish, astral plane, Githyanki protector Wrist: Copper bracelets, level 25ish, Great eastern desert, in chest behind brass dragon Ring: Engagement ring, level 15ish, Sea elf grottos, sea elven lover(get water breath pill from ashungar magic shop) Belt: Seaweed apron, level 15ish, Sea elf grottos, Sea elf cook Weapon: Heh, find your own weapon noob, not gonna even bother cause you would just lose it anyway Shield: Shield of hay, level 10ish, Sympathy for the burning man, Loads in statue* (you can get to it if you dont run into aggro) Held: Gnarled rats paw, level 15ish, Haunted house, Red-eyed rat Legs: seaweed breeches, level 15ish, sea elf grottos, Sea elf guard Feet: Flaming hooves, level 20ish, temple of the great bovine, load inside statue The caster eq list is pretty pathetic, most caster gear is high level and as a caster its a pain to pop, but with this gear on you could maybe be a decent noob, not pro like me...but decent. Alright, you're geared up, and ready to go, heres a few tips from a pro. Get a castle asap, its 5 mil but its worth it. With a castle you get a restore prog and never have to rest after recalls, and if you get a portal to solace, clan, and place your castle at a nice location(like se corner of karach sea), you can crecall to mg, portal to solace, and walk to areas from se corner of sea. This makes questing much faster and saves tons of time on travel cost. Dont be a complete noob and ask on chat as soon as you get a quest target you dont recognize, for one thing, use newbie noob...but only use it if you're completely stumped. While looking for the target you will get more familiar with the area, and eventually you could become pro like me. With you first qps I would always suggest putting them into hp, 100 qps is 500 hp, and thats alot for a noob. 25 damroll or 25 ctime/cpower is a bit of damage to give up, but 500 hps is the better deal . The only exception to this is if you know you will have around 60 ctime at level 30, then I would go 25 ctime for the two spells a round.
